We are seeking an experienced Cloud & Systems Engineer to help design, secure, automate, and support the technology infrastructure behind our growing ministry.

This is a technical role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, strengthening systems, and building reliable technology environments. The Cloud & Systems Engineer will work across Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, hybrid infrastructure, web environments, automation, and DevOps while serving as a trusted technical resource for our IT team.

What You’ll Do

Cloud Infrastructure & Azure Engineering

  • Design, deploy, and manage Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including Virtual Machines, Azure App Services, Azure SQL, and Storage Accounts.
  • Implement and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation practices.
  • Manage hybrid identity integrations across Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Monitor Azure performance, availability, security, and cost optimization.
  • Help shape architectural decisions and cloud modernization initiatives.

Windows Server & Enterprise Systems

  • Administer Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and file and print services.
  • Perform system patching, vulnerability remediation, and lifecycle management.
  • Maintain virtualization platforms across Azure IaaS and/or Hyper-V.
  • Support Microsoft 365 and identity integrations.
  • Manage backup and disaster recovery systems.
  • Provide Tier III escalation support for complex infrastructure and systems issues.
  • Support preventative maintenance and monitoring of production-critical systems.

Web Infrastructure & DevOps

  • Maintain and optimize internal and public-facing IIS web servers.
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for web application deployments.
  • Automate build, test, and deployment processes across environments.
  • Implement secure deployment practices, including role-based access controls, secrets management, and certificate management.
  • Troubleshoot web performance, API connectivity, and deployment issues.
  • Collaborate with developers and stakeholders on modern web architecture improvements.

Security, Reliability & Continuous Improvement

  • Apply system hardening standards across Windows and Azure environments.
  • Partner with IT leadership on vulnerability management, compliance, and incident response readiness.
  • Implement effective logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions.
  • Maintain least-privilege access principles and secure configuration standards.
  • Document system architecture, standards, and deployment processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve automation, reliability, scalability, and infrastructure performance.
  • Evaluate emerging Microsoft technologies and recommend solutions that support organizational needs.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance windows and incident response as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Azure infrastructure engineering.
  • Minimum of five years of experience administering Windows Server in production environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, including IaaS and PaaS.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and IIS.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and supporting infrastructure monitoring, performance tuning, backup, and disaster recovery.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical and systems-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-site technology environments and multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others.
  • A high level of discretion when working with sensitive systems and information.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps or Git-based workflows, Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as ARM, Bicep, or Terraform, Microsoft Intune, SQL Server administration, and security hardening frameworks is a plus.
