About this role

Employer-provided description, formatted for easier reading.

The Product Owner, B2C Search supports the development and ongoing improvement of the search capabilities that help customers find the right products on AutoZone.com. This role manages the product backlog, defines requirements, coordinates delivery, and uses customer and performance data to identify opportunities to improve search results.

The Product Owner works closely with Engineering, Analytics, Merchandising, Catalog, User Experience, and Quality Assurance to improve search relevance, ranking, query understanding, internal tools, and platform integrations. The role focuses primarily on search functionality and performance rather than direct ownership of the customer-facing user experience.

  • Manage and prioritize the search product backlog based on customer needs, business value, platform health, and team capacity.
  • Write clear user stories, business requirements, and acceptance criteria for search improvements.
  • Support enhancements to search relevance, ranking, query understanding, filtering, synonyms, boosting, and result quality.
  • Partner with Engineering and Data Science to develop, test, and implement search improvements.
  • Support the use and ongoing improvement of search platforms such as Vertex AI Search and Elasticsearch.
  • Help develop internal tools for search tuning, rule management, experimentation, diagnostics, and performance monitoring.
  • Use search data, customer behavior, logs, feedback, and analytics to identify opportunities and prioritize improvements.
  • Monitor key search measures, including engagement, refinements, zero-result searches, conversion, revenue, and performance.
  • Coordinate A/B tests and other experiments, document results, and recommend next steps.
  • Work with Merchandising, Catalog, Analytics, UX, QA, and other product teams to ensure search supports customer and business needs.
  • Support integrations between search and related capabilities such as product recommendations, navigation, content, and catalog systems.
  • Assist with troubleshooting search issues and coordinate their resolution with the appropriate teams.
  • Communicate priorities, progress, risks, results, and decisions to stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about eCommerce search practices and emerging technology that could improve the customer experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, MIS, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Three to five years of experience in digital product management, eCommerce, search, or a related field.
  • Experience managing a product backlog and working with Agile or Scrum delivery teams.
  • Ability to write clear user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Familiarity with search platforms, search relevance, ranking, filtering, synonyms, boosting, or personalization.
  • Experience working with Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, UX, QA, Merchandising, or Catalog teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use data and customer feedback to support product decisions.
  • Experience with digital analytics, experimentation, or A/B testing.
  • Strong written, verbal, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate work across teams.
  • Familiarity with Vertex AI Search, Elasticsearch, product catalogs, taxonomy, fitment, or search diagnostic tools is preferred.
