The Instrumentation Systems Engineering Group plays a key role in keeping up quality standards, and through work with the team, you’ll have the unique opportunity to impact products all across Apple.

We are looking for an engineer who will be responsible for the development and deployment of calibration and test equipment for Apple’s manufacturing lines. This engineer will work closely with the validation and design groups throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase to ensure the success of current and future Apple products.

You will be responsible for the specification, validation and deployment of automated equipment to test and calibrate devices for Apple’s new product introduction (NPI) and mass production.

Responsibilities will be tuned to match the candidate’s technical background, but you may be expected to:

  • Maintain, optimize and debug software in C/C++/Objective-C
  • Analyze large amounts of sensor data and adopt data-driven approaches to solving engineering challenges
  • Architect hardware for systems to test and calibrate product sensors, and maintain those systems through production
  • Perform failure mode root cause analysis and resolution, debugging from the system level down to the component level
  • Work with our mechanical team to specify and validate the required mechanical fixturing & automation systems
  • Drive system bring-up and qualification at vendors and contract manufacturers during NPI builds (usually in Asia, expected 25% travel)

BS in Computer Science or related discipline.

Experience designing, debugging and working with electromechanical systems

Practical knowledge of sensors (optical, force, pressure, acoustic, OR motion sensors)

Familiarity programming in one or more of the following: C/C++/Objective-C

Knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) and control systems

Strong applied mathematical skills (algorithms, modeling, simulations)

Experience analyzing and processing large data sets

Knowledge of EE fundamentals, circuit analysis, & circuit debug

Experience with test automation and optimization

Experience with high volume consumer electronics

Ability to apply innovative simple solutions to complex problems

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
